Gun I.D
« on: July 26, 2010, 11:23 »
Hi, can someone i.d this gun which i found in Castlemaine, it is made of steel, has some sort of spring in barrel, lever action, but whats confused me is i do not know where the bullets/Pellet go, see the trigger mechanism, there is no room, is this one of those old powder pellet loading guns that you load from the barrel. Originally i thought it was a air rifle, but cannot see where pellet goes.

    Hi George.

It's in a pretty bad way but it looks to me like what's left of an old " Daisy " air gun.
They were lever action, smooth bore, and fired a spherical steel pellet which loaded from the muzzle end.
Totally inaccurate and only good for shooting upwards, as if pointed below the horizontal the pellet rolled out.
Interesting find though--must be 60years since I sighted one of those.
     Regards,
    Baz

Hi Baz, you are spot on, it is a 1910-1920 model daisy air gun, one of the first lever action manufactured in usa, thanks for that, now i can stop scratching out those remainder hairs on me head.
    Cheers George HH
