It's a Key--but??
« on: August 04, 2010, 08:07 »
Morning all,

While hunting around an old park I came across this.
It's obviously a key of some sort.
Made of brass, with a " clover leaf"  shape and what for all the world looks like a rifle sight on top.
The hole inside is triangular shaped with rounded corners.
The whole item is about 40mm long
Anybody got any ideas?

Now you've got me all shakey.
The park is on the old coach road between Melbourne and Bendigo and is a place where the Coaches used to stop --probably for refreshments or to change horses--so you could well be correct.
Will have to go back and have another look.

It looks like it could be a 'barrel-tap key'....  ;D
