What is it

While i was out on the weekend I found a Badge or button that I am trying to identify. It is about the size of a 20 cent piece, rounded under on the edge with flecks of "gold" on the reverse. It is etched or stamped with a picture of two horses or unicorns facing each other under a tree that looks like a palm. Underneath this in the centre in old english writing are the letters S & N or S & R. Below that it is stamped Registered 28 June 1849. If anyone has a possible lead or a decent website I could troll I would appreciate it.
Thanks everyone
Manny

Wow, what a find
Clearly a relic of historical significance - please let us know the outcome of your research. Could the location provide a clue?
And congratulations!

Does it have a backmark on it?
Most buttons had a maker's name on the back...if it is a button.
You could try the ukdfd website but those only cover British button makers.

Hope this helps
