Q & A from a Minelab expert?
« on: September 16, 2009, 22:23 »
Guys & Girls and Uncle Buck ( not that you don't fit into the first two categories! lol But as Owner & Administrator) Interested in your thoughts ( and permission Buck) to contact the Minelab guys and see if they would be interested in visiting our site and potentially posting in our E-trac section. If one of their expert engineers or field testers would be up for Questions & Answers it could be really beneficial for all of us, maybe we could all glean some insights into these terrific detectors ( not to discredit the excellent information that JR & Eray continue to supply us!) I just thought that we may be able to get some definitive answers from the people that design, test and make these machines. Whilst  Ive looked at heaps of foreign sites, most of them are tailored to foreign conditions and settings and don't give me the answers that I really need. Anyway, I am interested in your thoughts, and I am happy to approach Minelab and moot this idea ( with  Bucks permission and if the rest of you think this is a good idea?).............................Balf

    Sounds brilliant to me Balf

Etrac users seem to be taking over though       Perhaps other brand companies could be approached as well

I contacted minelab for help on some specific settings for Gold detecting and they were more than helpful     Mind you there here in Adelaide  (Greatest location lol)
I can go and throw a rock on their roof for ya

    Cheers

Yeah, your probably right Eray ( Im being a little bit E-trac focused) , but as you say , theres no reason other companies could not be involved , in fact I am sure they would like the exposure. I have contacted Minelab a few times over the years  and they have always been extremely helpful ( apparently providing as much  assistance as possible to end users of their products is written into the companies Mission statement) so I reckon we might get some help from them. Thanks for your comment and suggestions, I'll wait and see what everyone else thinks , especially Buck and proceed from there. Maybe you can go and roofrock em for us LOL!....................Balf

sounds like a great idea Balf  :) i"m not an Etrac user but i use two other minelabs models & to have a Q & A section with a minelab rep would be real handy.

Hi Balf, I think it is a good idea, and yes Minelab are very helpful when asked any questions on their product. Over here in the UK we can contact Des Dunne at Minelab for any information, in fact when Robert and I found the first hoard we were using Minelab detectors and Des actually gave some info on how to increase the capabilities of our machines this resulted in more coins being discovered in the hoard, so if Bucks up for it I say go for it mate.

    Hi

If they don't do it we can always contact them personally via Email
At this address for any help

    minelab(at)minelab.com.au

The trouble with companies doing this sort of thing is they are afraid of being sued on anything they may state.
I know that sounds cynical but that's life

    Cheers

Go for it Balf..... I have no issues with reps from any of the MD brands being on the site.

The only thing would be that they are not to get into a war with each other over who's brand is better. This site was set up for the users, not for the companies.

Advice and guidance from the makers of a MD will allways be welcome here. Anything that can help us all.

On a personal note, I would love to see Minelab here as one of the reasons I bought that brand was that it is Australian. I believe us Aussies should support the Australian market in as many products as possible. The e-Trac being such a good product just made my choice easier at the time.

O.K Buck,I think it's worth a go and  I agree wholeheartedly ( we don't want the companies slanging each other). I will type up a draft e-mail sometime this week , stating who we are and what we would like them to do. I will send it to you and you can vet it before I send it to them and we'll see what sort of response we get. The guys & girls out here  seem to think it's a good idea, nothing to lose , so I'll give it a try..............Balf
