Found last weekend

Obviously this is a lead figurine of a lady but can anyone tell me anything more about it, for example how old it is?

Strange that she looks like she is holding something in her hands that is drooping down to about her waist.

hay CR that's a great piece I'd say it's a bit of "adult" entertainment  ;D & as to age I'd say about 1850s-1870s as it was quite popular back then.
it's the first one I've seen in lead, most are inside something that opens up.
was it found in the sea or in the ground ??

Very interesting - if you want to get rid of the crust you can try a gentle zap and bicarb treatment, it works well on lead. But she looks like something very old and probably of significance, so perhaps better leave her as she is.

I agree it is an ancient fertility idol. Since it was hung around someones neck it might well be something of real interest for example could it be someting that was shaped by the indiginous when they were introduced to lead. I would take it to the museum. What sort of place was it found ? Can u describe the sort of finds you had near it ?

    Sskim,

I wouldn't say its all that old, perhaps turn of the century going by the lead oxide (white) and dates on coins near by. I had thought perhaps a lead toy from way back.

Yeah the dates of finds around it does reduce the odds. But one has to think what the hole in the head was ? It could be that its is of interest and perhaps the museum may help
