New Australian Garrett Website
« on: July 25, 2011, 14:13 »
Hi Guys,

Just wanted to let you all know that we are the new Australian Garret Distributor called "Garrett Australia" and have opened our new website at www.garrettaustralia.com.au.

We have just received our first stocking shipment from the USA and have most items available now. We also support the security sector and New Zealand, so have monthly restocking shipments to keep our warehouse full. If you require any items we don't list on our website, we can get these in quickly.

I will post opening specials shortly and these will only be available to members of this forum.

Happy hunting

BigBlack

Good luck on your business.

$165 garrett pro pointer + $10 delivery.

Is this the best price for this AMDRH ? Or can we get this cheaper elsewhere ?

    HI Spanners,
I tried that but no reply, so I figured that because he is advertising on the forum that a reply here would let everybody know details re freight alternatives, if any were applicable..

Yes I saw that , it only says shipping by weight which means that it is an international courier  bringing an item from overseas direct to the customer. Delivery of parcel post items between two Australian located points is by cube size not by weight. So yes I guess that does answer my question.
Couriers like Fedex do not deliver between point A and Point B within Australia. Therefore I guess when you place an order with the new Garrett distributor, the item will be delivered direct to your door from outside Australia. This explains the freight by weight only.

    this is on the website

    Freight
Freight charges are as stated in the checkout pages.
Orders are normally delivered by FedEx Couriers.
Goods cannot be delivered to a P.O. Box. A physical address is required by our courier company for deliveries.
    All shipments are automatically insured.

    Delivery Times
2-5 days is normal delivery time when items are in stock. 3-4 weeks needs to be allowed for items out of stock
Target delivery times exclude weekends and public holidays. These delivery times are for main cities. Delivery to rural areas may take 1 or 2 days longer.

I ordered some books, hopefully will only take a week

Australia Post is by weight or size, if sending offshore and there will be a surcharge when over 500gram.

FedEx Express deliver to the door in Australia via Australian air Express, just got a new Infinium coil from GARRETT USA.

    Hi Guys,

Sorry for the delay in my reply Adrian SS, I've just got back from the Queensland Outdoor Adventure Expo in Toowoomba.

We are temporarily shipping from our New Zealand warehouse by FedEx until we relocate to a new office/warehouse in Brisbane, then we will use a local courier. The shipping pricing has been calculated on local courier costs (we are subsidising the true cost) so you are not paying anymore than you would normally and delivery times will be the same. Delivery is normally 2-3 days for main centres.

The AMDRH special is still available as I haven't had time to deactivate it and may leave it on until Friday.

    Cheers

    Hi Guys

Just wanted to let you know the AMDRH Special on the Pro-Pointer is finished as we have sold all our allocated stock and more.  The Pro-Pointer has been very, very popular and we have sold out. We are having a bunch of Pro-Pointers being shipped by FedEx tomorrow from the States and hope to be restocked by next week. I apologise if this and we are trying to maintain good stock levels, but the unexpected rush on these took us by surprise.

The special on the Garrett AT Pro is still valid until Friday and we have plenty of stock (for now)

    HI Ivanll,
I have sent a lot of stuff overseas (ebay sales) and Au Post has always charged me by cube size.
Every time I take an item to the post office they will weigh it and then measure it and charge by the size. Am I being had or what? I have never questioned it I just let them do their thing and pay them the charge as calculated.

    Ivanll,
Ok, OK, I can take a hint.
So most of my shipments have been large enought o be calculated by cube weight & size combined.
    Cheers.

    Hi Adrian,
To just clear up a bit of confusion on sending items overseas by Australia Post.
Parcels are only charged by weight when sending to overseas countries.
If you look at the Australia Post link that Ivanll gave you, you will see that that standard postage charges are only worked out on the weight of the item.
If a courier is used for shipment such as UPS or Fedex, then weight and cubed size is calculated, and the greater of the two is used to calculate charges.
If you Post Office is cubing your parcel when being sent overseas, then they are not following correct Australia Post procedures and may be charging you a lot more than they should be.
    Hope this helps out.
    All the best,
    Phil

So according to BigBlack he is the new Garrett Australian distributor, a couple of question, has the old Aust distributor been dumped, who is performing the warrantee work and where is it being done, in Oz or do the detectors have to go back to the states to be repaired. Which one of these are the official distributor in Aust backed by Garrett when things go pear shaped. I certainly dont have a foot in either camp but would like to know the answers to these questions if i was to ever buy a Garrett product in Aust. Killer
