ok well i found something that may work well.
A friend works for Hogs breath cafe, i went in there and the steak knives they have on the counter looked perfect.
I ask if i could have one seeings there ws a bucket of them, i got it here with me now!
It looks like it will do a good job and i tried to bend it and it wouldnt bend.

the blade is just wider than a 10c coin and it has no point on it.
that isnt my phot i will add one i took once the camera is charged.

I picked up one of those nine dollar Spear & Jackson hand spades from Bunnings that s13tsilvia recommended, brilliant little spade, thanks for the tip off mate.
I was originally just going to use it until my Lesche arrived but it's a comfortable & sturdy little ripper that I'll keep using.  He's right too, it doesn't bend.

They can say what they want I doubt its better than a predator or a lesche, I've seen them worn down but i've yet to see one bend- but I've seen heaps of pics of snapped Gator Tools though. Seriously Lesche and Predator Tools are the best.  The choice is simple- Made in the USA by a family business or made in china- You decide, I know where I'll put my money.

    Hi Guys,

Here's my alternative. Knocked this up from an old spring steel harvester tine and a bit of 1" gal pipe. Apart from my sorry attempt at welding the thing goes great. The slightly dished blade seems to help cutting really neat plugs. And not a hope in hell of bending this with your bare hands. It'll definitely do the job until the finds can afford something a bit prettier. Regards,

    OM

Not pretty but as long as it does the job. The lesche has a small gussett on the bend for strength.

Went to bunners today but could not find the serrated Spears and Jackson
but there was a new 10 multi digger with a very wide shank
the good thing about that spears and jackson is the serrated edge is on the side I would preffer
might keep looking for them at other bunners
