large coils cover more space looking for coins.if you are after gold get a small DD from coiltec

I am using the Coiltec 15" all rounder and finding deeper targets but the pinpointing is not the best.

I would love to hear about other coils people have used on the E-Trac and what they thought about it.

    Hi Giltron,

I use a Sunray 8 inch on my Etrac. Equally as good as the 11inch supplied coil. So much so that it's the only coil I use. Only down side is it does not cover as much area per sweep. Gives a good 9 inches depth if you crank the sensitivity up a few points, and pinpoints spot on.  Identification numbers the same as with the 11 inch coil.

    Hi Baz,
Thank you for your reply can i ask you why you went for a smaller coil on the E-trac and why you went for the Sunray brand. As i have only had the chance at this stage to try the Coiltec. I think this site is good as we can all exchange ideas and only gain more information from other people and there experience.

    Hi Giltron,
No particular reason for purchasing 8" coil other than to try one -- after using it I find the 11" coil a bit weildy and heavy.  Sunray was chosen because they work in conjunction with Minelab,-- and not to say other coils are inferior. Really happy with Sunray, have one on the sovereign as well ( 8" )
For beach hunting I put the 11" coil back on and have a 12" Sunray  for the Sov --covers more area but only a little deeper than the 8". -- probably an overkill as the standard 10" sov coil is very good.

Hi all just keeping you updated on the Coiltec 15" all rounder i have been working the same area and went back over it with the E-Trac standed coil. By doing this i have ither been doing somthing wrong or the coil is not very good with small silver. I found a number silver coins on 1 gold ring in the area i was testing the Coiltec i have now gone back to the standed 11" coil.

Ixss5000 i did most of my testing on the beach i got very good depth but only on large targets and missed the small targets like a threepence or a sixpence at about 5" + in depth. I even noticed i missed a penny if it was n its was deep but on large targets of 12" to 15" it works great.
