Smurf, that is a tenuous link. NNNP does stand for NORTHERN NEVADA NATURE PHOTOGRAPHERS but where were they in 1979. They only have a flicker page. Is there other evidence?

Sorry, I need to confirm the facts here. I spent a good 3 hours researching that pin and I got nothing.

Looking at the other picture posted in

    http://forum.kimbucktwo.com/index.php/topic,6519.0.html

the writing could be HHNP or other N or H combinations.

    More proof requested PLEASE.

    Chaps,

I know the pic dosent look to crash hot and dosent do the pin any justice but looking at it in person its defiantly NNNP. When found it was prob about 1" from the surface so maybe just recently OR by the looks of the ground there its been disturbed before. i myself and been looking for 2 days now and still no joy.

    its a doozy!!!!!!

Hey Spanners, this might give some clues, though i think Aurea celje might have more to do with the manufacturer.

Clue  by clue, spanners..... You'll solve it.

Makes it more interesting, doesn't it.

With you deep interest in archaeology, I can understand why you don't really want to open it at this stage. 8)

Thanks CP the one thing that studying archaeology has taught me is not to rush into the unexpected and to take your time with all artifacts with significance or not.

I have put some more effort in here and with thanks to Slovenian Google translator. This is what I have found.

NNNP 79 appears to be a Yugoslavian government propaganda. I dont know the exact nature of the propanda but NNNP stands for Ni? Nas Ne sme Presenetiti. Which translates to "Nothing should not suprise us". I think that something is lost in the Google translation. There was also a NNNP campaign in 1982. The propanda appears to be heavily socailist like the government of the time. I really dont understand the politics of the time and I really didnt want to spend the time.

Heres a biolography refering to the program

I will put the translation at the end

The issue that I have with this solution is that the Yugoslavian flag should feature on the pin, but that might detail what the program is all about. The Yugoslavian flag is blue white and red stripes with a red star in the center (see attachment). The flag on the pin is blue-white-blue with the star above the mountains.
