The issue that I have with this solution is that the Yugoslavian flag should feature on the pin, but that might detail what the program is all about. The Yugoslavian flag is blue white and red stripes with a red star in the center (see attachment). The flag on the pin is blue-white-blue with the star above the mountains.

Looks like it the design on the pin comes from "the former coat of arms of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia (1944 — 1991)" ....when Slovenia was a "member of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia."

I think the pin may have had something to do with the Ski-Flying World Championships that were held in Planica in Slovenia in 1979. (Apparently ski-flying is an extreme form of ski-jumping).

The design on the pin was obviously taken from the then Slovenian coat of arms...and the wavy lines could have been positioned to represent a ski-jump landing ramp...

Thanks DiOz. That is the link that I was looking for. Awesome work.

Spanners. I believe this pin is government propaganda not sporting memorabilia. The history of Yugoslavia is has it's fairshare of turmoil and bloodshed. It is a pity because it looks like such a beautiful country. This pin is so much more interesting that a sporting pin.

Pins like these are always very interesting. Lots of history behind them. Lots of strong political views. It is a pity that it happened so far away and in a different language. What links this pin to this site? How did it get here? So many questions.

    Cheers

    Goldfever

PS long posts do take some work thanks for the acknowledgements.
