Coil Coating
« on: October 08, 2011, 18:47 »
Is it possible for someone to let me know more about the rubber coating that was mentioned in a previous post.  I believe it was posted some time ago by Meggie.  How well does it do and where do I buy it.   Thanks

    It's called: DynaGrip Rubberised Undercoating.

Available fron Supercheap Auto for about $17, I think.

I have coated all my coils with it, & haven't had to re-coat yet.

    Thanks to Meggie. 8)

I just got some from SupaCheap but had to ring around a couple of local stores to find one that stocked it.
Picked up some masking tape today so I'll spray tomorrow.

Just buy a coil cover for about $12 to protect your coil, they seem to last a very long time, and would last longer than the spray.

    Nah. ;)

Coil covers get full of dirt etc., & have to be removed & cleaned pretty often.

You will be surprised how long the rubber coating lasts.

It is GOOD STUFF! 8) 8)

Sand stuck in the coil cover (particularly when beach hunting) can cause falsing on some detectors and be a pain. :(
Also covers can become loose over time from removing and reapplying.

Rubber spray on coating is another option available that from all accounts works well.
