Has anybody had  the AT Pro show signals and the Propointer not recognise them.. That has happened a quite a few times, a clear signal pinpointed signal but the Propointer does not pick it up blank..nothing there..

Dig deeper is the only advice I have.  I've done it plenty of times where I've dug a plug too shallow only to have the pin pointer give no hit.  Dig a little deeper and oh, there it is!   :o

ive had this happen once or twice.
100 percent of the time its a tiny tiny tiny bit of wire or similar.
the atpro would pick it up no probs, but the propointer had to be sitting on top of it to set it off.

I know it may sound silly but run the pro pointer around the entire hole. If there's still nothing, put it in the hole & put the tip on the soil. Hold it there for about 30 seconds. If no signal then move it over a couple of mm & repeat. I've found that the longer you leave it there for longer the better it seems to work. If that fails take more soil out and go again.

Another tip is to check the depth of the target and try and dig a plug about the depth it says or an inch or 2 above the depth,I think the pro pointer reads a target about 1-2 inches but not 100% sure,I have had this happen to me when I had a target at 8 inches and I dug a plug at about 5 inches,so I had to dig a little more before the pro pointer started to pick it up.

Ive had this problem only with tiny pieces of shredded Aluminium canslaw
but when I dug up a aluminium can that was 19 inches deep
it was out of range for the pointer  ;)

All you have to do is start the pro pointer up away from any metal and slide a coin down towards the switch from the opposite end of the tip. When it just starts to vibrate then move it back so it is just ticking slightly. This will make it more sensitive to very small bits of metal and give you more depth. You have to keep the coin in position with your thumb while you are using it. When you switch it off it goes back to std. Dig a hole and keep pushing a coin into the dirt till just out of range of your Gpp, when you try this you should be able to hear it.        Normally when you want to know something about a subject then go back to the home page and put it into search up the top.It will show a lot of the web pages that include those words. If you are reading a story and put words into search it doesn't work the same as going back to home.  Rwork

I had the same thing today. I hunt in normal coin mode and when I get the ding ding, swap to Pro zero to try and get an idea about size and depth. When I swapped to Pro zero it was only a faint signal and I thought a small piece of old iron, copper wire etc. I started digging a hole about two to three inches down, and using the Pro pointer, but no reading. Ran the AT Pro over hole again and still a faint signal. Kept digging down about another four inches and found a 1951 sixpence. It's a hard call I think, do you give up thinking its just trash, or my way of thinking, if you haven't found it in the first two to three inches and the Pro pointer doesn't pick it up but the detector does, keep digging.

also and dont laugh i did not think or realise this till a few weeks ago watching a garrett video.
but when you pinpoint like i do by dragging the coil towards you the sound stops at tip of coil. i dig that spot its my favourite easiest way to pinpoint. now the bit i did not know/think off but its a dd coil the deeper the target the further from that tip the target is. so a coin on surface would be right under the end of the tip but a coin 8 inches down maybe a inch or 3 back from that tip towards you. look in your manual or online the shape of a dd scan area its a triangle  sloping back towards the centre, so logically the deeper the coin the closer to centre it would be. but as i said i went almost 6 months swinging the dd coil on ace 350 without realising it and was not till i watched the garrett training videos other day i saw this tip. does explain why in  the past i have dug a 8 inch hole at end of coil found nothing and come a few inches dig a second hole and find a coin 5 inches down. happened yesterday with half penny, i ended up with two holes. the first hole i dug 5 inches and nothing on probe, i then remembered tip, came back 3 inches from current hole started a 2nd hole and found the coin 4 inches down

Has anybody had  the AT Pro show signals and the Propointer not recognise them.. That has happened a quite a few times, a clear signal pinpointed signal but the Propointer does not pick it up blank..nothing there..
this happened two days ago, so i did what i used to do before i had probe, handful of soil at a time over the coil.  it went off, i then waved probe,no answer. found a tiny very thin bit of foil, small and easy to miss with you eye in the dirt/dust but i think to thin for probe to register on.
I also change the battery on the garrett pro beforer each trip, i use rechargeable 9v in them
