The sov has landed
« on: November 23, 2011, 22:05 »
Well i have in my grubby little hands a nice piece of beach busting electronics  ;D
It arrived today and the other goodies were here last week.
Thought is was a dud when it wouldn't stop talking to me like R2D2 in disc mode and would not settle on one tone so put it in auto sensitivity and got a little better then went to min sens and it worked fine (too many things around house for it to look at)
Took it down the beach and well !!!!!
You will have to look in adventures and outings   ;)

The noise comes from under the length of your arm which can be a bit annoying. Headphone socket is made so it doesn't power a speaker very well. I modified my circuit and run 2 speakers. You should be very happy with the performance. I use iron mask, min disc and auto power but sometimes lower power is better in trashy areas. They are all  s l o w  to recover after sensing iron.

I'll try a hip or chest mount next time & see how that goes, I did miss the coverage the 15inch WOT  coil gave me though, will look at them a bit later.
Have a meter coming for it soon as well so will have to decide where to put that, it has a straight shaft so top of the handle looks good, will have to find a v clip somewhere (any ideas?).

It does say in the manual you get a bit more depth with iron mask on, have you noticed much difference it it's depth with this on?

    Pete.

FSHOO, i mounted the meter on the bag by buying an extra clip so when the control box is hip or chest mounted it leaves me with only a bare shaft which i can drop in the water leaving  both my hands free. Fresh water my area,i guess you would have to flush salt water from shaft joints. I use iron mask always and find i get good depth, not interested in finding iron anyway. I am the only person who has won the Minelab Wedderburn token hunt twice, both times using my old XS sov. (2 free gold machines) Not much fun last year as they used iron tokens.  Rwork
