Minelab App for I-phone
« on: December 13, 2011, 18:22 »
All,

Just downloaded the Minelab app which is free. I am really impressed allows to store all of your finds GPS referenced and also has ETRAC manuals and settings (not that usefull for the Musky).

I am the author of the app - please remove the post ref that I take the GPS location of your finds, this is incorrect and I do not and would not do such a thing. I wrote this app to give a FREE program for anyone who wants to log their own finds - and email it to themselves, that's it - the finds are stored on your phone ONLY. MODERATOR - please remove the slander.  If you don't like the app MATE then delete it, if you are going to make inappropriate remarks then please do so to me directly and I will reply, it's wrong to make judgement on someone like me who works so hard to promote the industry and give metal detecting a GOOD name. Happy hunting everyone else and good luck for 2012.

Take a look at my comment and take particular note of the smilies, if you really are the author of the app then you should know what a wink and a smile means, smilies go way back to the days of IRC (internet relay chat) and signify facial expressions that when in the company of someone would tell you that they are joking.  ::)

Comment removed ,and modified MartinG21 post. I took out the word "above" so it wouldn't look like he was referring to GemQ's original post.

Hi martinG21,  I have been using your app for a while now and I love it.  One thing I would like to ask though, and please don't take this as a criticism, but I can't seem to get the GPS location working right.  Some of the finds I've logged are up to 100km out, yet some are dead on.  Sometimes they just log the last position I used the app at?  I thought I was leaving it long enough for the GPS on the phone to start up?  Am I doing something wrong?

:) :) :) Thanks - I can't comment for individual phones but I tested on over 40 before release, I can't suggest what went wrong with your GPS coords - hope the phone sorts it out for you, 99% success rate with over a 1000 downloads so it's sort of working. You do need a bit of spare memory on your phone for it but not a great deal and all Android versions from 2.0 "should" work. If in doubt - delete and reload it, just to make sure. If you go into edit you should be able to move the pin with your finger to the exact location if the GPS or GPRS was playing up. This app is only V1.0 - I have much to do and much to learn. Hope you guys can make some use of it. Regards  :D

Thanks Martin,  I have it installed on my I-phone.  I'll give your suggestions a try and see if I can work it out.  I like the new features, especially having all of the minelab manuals available from within the app.
    Good work, keep it up.
