Another pro pointer down
« on: December 14, 2011, 00:01 »
My pro pointer died tonight whilst on a night hunt  :( only 4.5 weeks old, looks like a  switch problem & seems to be becoming a common problem by the sounds of it.
just started 2 weeks on leave and was going to get a few hunts in.

Willy46 pm & email sent, HELP  ;)

Hell! I must be lucky. :P

I've had mine since early April, drowned twice, dropped on concrere several times, No problems yet. ::)

I did put duct tape over the switch as soon as I received it, though.

Maybe that's the secret to the switch problem?? ;)

Who knows? Might just be a bad batch, & OZ has bought most of them. :-[

I sent mine back to Garrett as it continually falses as well as the switch prob. Yet to hear back. Mine had hardly been used, babied and tape over the switch early on it's life.  :'( mine was from Texas so not nessarily a Aus prob.

    Point taken, Buttsy. ;)

I'm about to order a Vibra Probe 580, seeing that I've drowned the Garrett twice. ::)

Similar price, will let you know how it performs.

Maybe someone already has one & can give a report??

Be good to see how it goes count. The propointer is so close to being perfect it's frustrating. A lot of reliability probes lately and that switch. I'd pay a little more if they would put a bullit proof switch in it.

Sorry to hear FS.....my switch played up badly a month ago and then stopped working all together.
I pried the rubber switch cover off and blew some dirt out and jostled the white inner switch a few times and it freed up (it was stuck down), now working again.
Now I duct tape the switch to protect it from water and dirt.
    Have a look inside ??

Wow i want your job if you figure they are not expensive, or i want to find the amount of coins you do!
I have been pricing them up and they are $200+ and with a single income and trying to put my girl through UNI they are not too cheap.
I saw a V4 for sale what are they like?

Well after 6 weeks & 5 days  :o  i finally got my pro pointer back in the mail.

Switch seems a lot better than the original one, don't know if its the same manufacturer.

Easy to switch on and off now, hope it lasts.

Now just have to get past this night shift and back into mding'n
