Great Aussie Gold Ring Shootout 2012
« on: January 09, 2012, 20:32 »
Hey all,
LazyAussie suggested we should run an informal, friendly comp for 2012, gunning for gold rings.
They must be found with a detector and 9k or greater.
Hopefully this will inspire us all to have our own greatest gold ring tally ever :)
You just need to post a pic of the gold ring and your updated 2012 tally.
I'll start things off with an old ring found on Saturday 7th Jan

So show us your gold  ;D ;D ;D

My prediction is that those who do the beach scene will win this easily.

In 25 hunts so far in Sydney parks, I've found 3 rings total - 2 of them silver.

You'd think with such a high population there would be a lot more lost jewelry on offer?

    Not in my experience...

New members might not now that we don't count gold rings for the awards when you have been told where to look such as a JR job. Found lost and returned award applies then.
Hope you all find plenty in 2012.

It’s encouraging to see these gold ring finds.  Could I suggest that the finders also mention what detector they were using at the time and the type of ground they were on?
Eg. Dry /wet sand, water, park, schoolyard etc
