Coiltek should make some Butterfly Coils
« on: January 20, 2012, 01:17 »
Hi guys at Coiltek,
Any interest in making your own butterfly shaped coils 10x12 15x12 etc. Hearing good things about stability, depth and target separation. If you keep it light and waterproof I reckon you would be onto a winner.

Cheers

Nugget finder tried a switch on one of their coils to change phase but it wasn't much good, not sure if the switch was the problem or the coil design.

    Hi all,

There are certainly plans to release more coils but the shape and design will need to wait for the release.

Unfortunately the placement of two coils in one is not really that capable due to interference between the two coils.

if there was a POLL on the most preferred sizes - what would they be?

    Regards
    Trevor

We can soon start a poll to see what most members would like, but we would have to know the sizes preferred to put in the poll.
Generally speaking we don't get many responses to polls and votes.

I was at Miner's Den today and he showed me the connector kit for allowing different coils on the Excalibur II, if the butterfly coils are so good then there might be some interest in one for the Excalibur, if you need someone to test them send me a PM, I can easily fit the connector myself (been playing with electrons since 5 years old) and can do any tests including a detailed report, all I would ask is a coil of my own once the design is finalised.

Has the GT coil performed better than the original?
