Detector Pro Pistol Probe
« on: February 03, 2012, 17:55 »
Hi Gang,

I myself a new Pistol Probe and was wondering if anyone else is using one?

I have watched and read reviews and it looks very promising indeed.

Scored on for a price I couldn't refuse!

Got one, it works well very powerfull.
It's a bit of a handfull and can interfear with some detectors.
Detector Pro also make the Uni-Probe headphone PI detector/pinpointer, they to work well.

Pistol probe works well. Drives my Infinium nuts .
    Detects deep for a pinpointer.
I find myself using the Pro pointer more often  because of less interference.
Although I have both of these pinponters neither of them gets much use because I detect the beaches and almost everything winds up in the sand scoop.

    Hi Ecto1,

I have had the pistol probe for a few years and for the deeper coins it just leaves the garrett for dead. The main thing is to set it up and get the threshold just bubbling and make sure you keep your batteries right up to scratch. The ones i use are 9.6 rechargeble and they are the ants pants in 9 volt batteries. Also i have put a plastic end on mine so the tip does not get dammaged. You are likely to get people ringing up the feds saying you have a gun so i have put some white vinyl tape up the barrel which takes the look away from been a gun. Also it works better with a WHITES V3I, haha.

    Regards Beepn.

    Hi all,

    Got my Pistol Probe today!!

Its big in comparison to the Garrett pro pointer but man is it sensitive.

Did an air test with it and it picks up a 20 cent piece at over 5 inches!!!

    Can't wait to try it!

I lost interest in mine when it showed up DOA. They replaced it but, an expensive exercise.
I will use it when the Pro Pointer dies. So i am not willing to throw the new one out even with the first disappointment. :(

    Gday OM!!!

I haven't used it out on the field yet due to work commitments but I will get a chance this weekend.

So Far I'm impressed with its range compared to both of my Pro pointers. I like that fact that its on when you keep your finger on the  button. but it also has a permanent on switch too. you can also switch it to silent mode. its also a pulse induction pro-pointer which means better depth.

    I'll post a review nextweek.

    Hi All,

ok here's my feedback thus far,

I took it to the gold fields with me last week (See Willo's Goldfield adventure thread) and managed a few coin and relic hunts.

And for relic and coin hunting it is accurate being PI you need to keep it moving to pinpoint. Something I need to get use to.

it'd got excellent depth. Once I find a target with the E-trac I can pinpoint the target more accurately using the Pistol probe without digging it 1st!

It does get interference if the E-trac is too close to it but you can adjust the sensitivity using the Frequency and threshold knobs.

I like the fact that you have to hold down the button to have it ON. I does have an ON\OFF feature too as well as silent mode where only vibration and LED light is used.

I was fortunate to buy this as an unwanted gift from a member in Findmall.com

All up for the price I got it for ( got it for $130 AUS shipped from the US!!!) I'm very happy with my purchase.

Hey mate just saw this thread as I havent been on the forum so much of late

If your Pistolprobe intereferes with the ETrac do a noise cancel with the Pistolprobe turned on and held close to the ET
Same goes for the Garrett - mine occassionally can interfere with my ETrac so I do the same thing to fix it
the ET noise cancel swaps channels or whatever it does

I carry both when hunting modern as the Garrett does not go deep enough sometimes
My pistolprobe is carried in a shoulder bag and has bright yellow safety tape stripes so it looks less like a gun when in public places.
     :D ;) :)

    Gday NSC,

    THanks for the advice mate!

I actually used the freq knob on the Pistol Probe to but I guess doing a noise cancel on the ET would be much more efective.

Yes I have red Tape around the barrell incase of mistaken Identity.
