How many South Aussies
« on: February 10, 2010, 20:07 »
Hi all. How many South Aussies use this sight? I am new and was just wondering. Also do many of you MD country beaches? I am in the country and I find it a bit slow.Have picked up a little bit in old beachside camp spots. The beaches are slow to get replenished. But it is good fun and good exercise. Brian.

Welcome brian p!  There are quite a few South Aussies on the forum, including me though I've been mud puddling for a long time. :)

    Cheers

Slang for Victorian's mud puddler/paddler. Though it doesn't seem to fit after so many years in drought!
I've never eaten crow either! :D

    Hey brian, welcome aboard.

Like Jhonnygem, I live at Hallett Cove but mainly detect parks.

Born in NSW though so I am a "blow in ".
There we used to call the Vic's mexicans.
    The Queenslanders called us cockroaches.
    and we called them canetoads.
    Sandgropers
    Tassiedevils
-all in good fun of course - no offence intended

If you can get in and out of Adelaide without family and friend commitments...definately take the md then hit the wineries on the way home!

Bung Fritz - http://www.travelpod.com/travel-photo/hilivin/hi_livin~/1206688140/heathxs_hair_031.jpg/tpod.html   I remember going with my nan many years ago to the butch shop at the corner of her street. It seemed a long way for little legs but the chunk of fritz that the butcher cut off for me made the walk worthwhile.  :)  Balfour's Kitchener Buns and YO YO biscuits are top of the list when I hit Adelaide!

Oh-Yeah, The kitchener buns, I lapped them up at school, the nicest, sweetest things around.
Also our local butcher made Steakettes, they are spicy mince made into little rectangles...sooooo yummy.

Sorry brian p, we got side tracked...I haven't had the opportunity to hunt SA beaches myself but you also haven't mentioned which region you are interested in.  There's a lot of country coast line!  try googling the history of various towns/regions you are interested in.
     eg. http://www.southaustralianhistory.com.au/robe.htm

    cheers

I don't do county Beach's, but went to the york peninsular a few months a go, didn't take the detector with me, pity because the parks next to the beaches looked  promising, if the Beach's arn't produsing do the parks.
