I don't think that is a Pounds Sterling register Ray. Apart from the "28 shillings", 74 pence would not make sense, as there were 12 pence to a shilling. The suffix 'd' may not refer to the old way of abbreviating pence.  I see there are four 1/2 selectors, starting with 'a'.  All a bit confusing so many years after the fact.

How to date the unit.

http://www.brasscashregister.net/learn_more/articles/how_to_date_your_national_or_ncr_cash_register/

I think this one is showing a halfpence on the end but i don’t dont why it would show such a high shilling reading. Normally anything over 20 shillings would have been logged as another pound.

Iron bias 2 seems a good compromise for me.  Too little and your picking up not only the big ferrous, but more bent nails and smaller bits etc.  And too much, you're missing out on good targets masked by the ferrous.

I'm a lazy detectorist though, once I have things set how I like them, I tend not to change anything, which is a mistake.

That 10mhz did seem to work on iron testing. Already have the iron bias 2 set up for tomorrow.

I was thinking of going to iron bias 2 myself.  And the 10mhz trick may need to be tested more...

Thanks 14 FNX.

I will get a close up shot of just the keys so it will make it a bit easier to work out.

Thanks Again Regards Beeepppnnn.

Have you got a close front-on shot of the buttons and display.  Having a single decimal point is a bit confusing.  Dollars and cents require it to go to two decimal points and pounds, shillings and pence were a totally different setup, from memory.  There was a column for each denomination.  I can't make out the layout from the shot you have put up.

Trying to find out how this cash register works .I have found out it was made in the 1940 but have not a clue what the 1/2 settings do with the slidders on the right hand side. Any one got any clues.

Wow, agree, part of the pleasure of detecting is the quiet time.

p57, https://www.minelab.com/__files/f/326548/4901-0249-1%20Inst.%20Manual,%20EQUINOX%20600%20800%20EN.pdf

This is a definite technology shift from the wireless headphones for the CTX.
I haven’t disassembled the audio module yet, but the CTX seems to use wireless technology ie: 2.4Khz , 802.11b/g/n  same as your wireless
network at home with your adsl router. I think most have noticed the 14 channels your can select when using the wireless headset?
ie: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels
At this stage, I'm guessing with the CTX, its a connection over IP ie: ip address on the CTX, ip address for the module, and
communication for the audio. This is the reason why people can't pair bluetooth headsets with the CTX

Good to see minelab is using a standard, and this time, giving an option to detectorists.
