Which coil next?
« on: May 25, 2018, 19:48 »
I've had the Deus since October last year now, I opted for the 9" as I'm often in the scrub and I prefer a smaller coil in such areas.

I'm interested in getting another coil - but there are so many choices!

I've pretty much ruled out the white elliptical as I don't have gold fever.  I prefer hunting in soil not sand, but will head to the beach over the summer - Based on what I've read I'm leaning towards the 11" or 13".

Anyone here tried both - Or think the white 9" is so super duper not to bother going bigger?  Care to share your thoughts on the pros and cons?

Cheers!

hey 42,

I've got the 11" black, and 9" white. Use the 11" black for goldie hunting(which I don't do much off - which means it sits in the case).
9" White at all times basically. Check out Calabash digger on youtube:

I've recently put his relic settings on. Not getting out much, life/family has me very busy this year fortunately(and unfortunately for hunting),
so have had little hours on those settings.. but plan to stick with it!  I still need to put some time in with the Deus,

cheers -brian

I have all three coils and the 11x13" coil gets the least use, mainly due to frequenting junky relic sites or areas where it is harder to swing a larger coil.  In fact it only really gets used in open areas with sparse finds (ie. Paddocks/lake beds etc) & mainly for coverage.  The 11" coil is the better all-rounder, and gives decent ground coverage compared to the 9" HF & LF coils whilst still offering good unmasking abilities.

I recce new sites with the 11" coil, and then move onto the round 9" HF coil for more detailed detecting. The biggest downside to the 11x13" coil is the weight and being nose heavy, the 11" coil is pretty much spot on in those regards.

The HF coils will eat the 11" for breakfast on low to mid conductors,
