Wireless headphones!
« on: February 05, 2013, 20:40 »
Hi all, can anyone recommend a set of wireless headphones that will work without the signal delay? I read on a US site that TDK WR700's work really well but I don't want to go to the expense (199.00) and find they have a delay. I want to use them on a Whites MXT and Coinmaster GT.

I've read of these being used without problems overseas.  I'll probably give them a try myself when I get my new machine sorted out.

I seem to spend half my life untangling my bloody cord!  >:(

Called into the Reject shop yesterday and found a set of FM wireless headphones for $10.00, so I purchased them, for $10.00 and they don't work not a big outlay ::) I cut off the 2 rca plugs and soldered on a 6.5 stereo jack, plugged it into the Coinmaster GT and they worked :o No signal delay and the sound was very good - BUT they didn't work too well on the MXT, signal distortion, could have something to do with the frequency of the MXT. I cracked open the transmitter tower and the circuit board is very small, so tomorrow I will get a "jiffy box" and AAA battery holder to make it more compact and fit it to the GT. Tried it on my mates Ace 250 and worked well on it as well. See pics.

Cheers,

Nice one rocker!

I spotted a very similar set a few days back going cheap and was considering doing something similar.

Looks like a trip out later and a soldering job to be done!  :)

Went and got myself a set.

Mine are a bit different - infrared not FM and runs on a 12v power supply.

Hooked it up and it works with the Garret perfectly.

I'll use  3 x 3.7v Li-Ion in a battery box to power it.

Here is the final result for the wireless headphones for the Coinmaster GT. Got the jiffy box and AAA battery holder from Jaycar, cost including headphones $14.70. Also if you get bored detecting flick the switch on the headphones and you have a FM Radio to listen to. ::)

Very tidy job indeed!  :)

I bailed on my project for now.  When I opened the sender unit it had this wierd, very elongated diamond-shaped board which wasnt going to lend itself to going into a rectangular box.

If I unsoldered the senders and put them on extended wires I could get it into a box that shape but it'd still be too bulky.

Seems like I'll need to keep the eyes peeled for an FM unit instead.

I recently got some Rapoo 3070 wireless headphones
They work well on the Gold Bug & the Xterra
They are very light & have pretty good audio
Cheap on EBay, just had to add an adapter for the Xterra as they have 3.5 plug.
Cheers

I bought a $5 fm transmitter, plugs into control box with a cheap adapter and got a pair of $30 fm radio receiving h/phones from mitre 10. Just choose a quiet frequency and you're off. Tx has rechargeable battery built in
