Dont know where you have read they are 50/50 re good and bad.  Maybe a $500 one.  The e-trac is one of the best in the business.

Two things that have my alarm bells ringing  :)

Firstly an E-Trac for $500  :o

Secondly, it is obvious you haven't researched too hard otherwise you wouldn't be asking how good E-Tracs are which would of told you what they usually go for secondhand.

Was this Aus Ebay??  Sincerely hope it works out for you, but $500 just seems too good to be true.

I just did a search on Ebay of completed listings for E-tracs.
Two have sold for around $500, both from China.

Good luck with it

Tazy, It's a real shame you didn't do a bit more research, the China Ebay items were discussed on a Forum thread only recently:

http://forum.kimbucktwo.com/index.php/topic,17799.0.html

Very good chance you've been dudded  :'(.

Having said that, I don't think anyone else on the Forum has actually made a purchase, so who knows, it could be you've scored a bargain.  Hope you keep us all informed on how the purchase turns out.

Item does come up as a E-trac finishing on the 27/3 sold for $517 inc shipping  ???

Should of really raised a few questions when the seller has 0% feedback & the item was so cheap  ::)

It takes a day or 2 for Paypal to release the funds, contact them and advise them of the fraudlent item.  Like now instead of reading this.

Ebay (who own Paypal) are strict on fakes.
You have 45 days to file a dispute if the item is significantly different from that advertised in the auction.

China does not recognize copyrights or Patents, it is possible that the knock off will work, as they dissasemble an original and copy the internals and software, it is frightening what they are achieving.

It may actually work to some degree if not fully, this is why ML, CT and NF are concerned as these products are getting better and threaten their business.

I personally try not to buy anything out of China and thats not easy, I went to buy 3 Bonds singlets $12 each but put them back when I read made in China an the lable.

What ever happens "Good Luck" and please keep everyone posted.

Cheers

hey guys i messaged that guy who i brought the detector off and he said its a legitimate model, and told me to wait because he's sending it, told me to wait patiently, so i'll have to take he's word for it and if its a fake or scam ill be in touch with ebay and get my money back, if i do receive the detector woud i be able to take it to a minelab dealer or something in my state and get them to look over it to see if its genuine e trac detector...  :) appreciate the help n support guys..
