Jaycar VLF LCD Detector
« on: April 26, 2013, 16:32 »
Jaycar is now carrying detectors. Just the same as those sold on ebay though. According to the assistant they have sold heaps.

I had a play with one in store using my wedding band, a 20c coin and a dollar coin. All three were ID'd in the center segment but the dollar went into the top segment once within 2" of coil. Can disc but only on a segment basis.

The build quality is typical low end crap, shaft is aluminium and has those twist lock adjusters and no locking pin.

Seemed to air test ok though and tones were pleasant and obvious enough. Would detect near surface goldies etc without an issue but you aren't going to get a decent ID.

For $150 if it got a kid into the hobby it would be good but honestly at that price you'll get a second hand Ace150, or for not much more a new BH Tracker IV.

Have to agree. 150 is too much for this detector, maybe 75 or there abouts would be realistic.
A very basic unit. An Ace 150 or 250 would be a wiser choice for a low priced unit.

HI
We had a field trip recently in Tasmania and this detector was the star of the day. 705, modded SD, gold bug 2, and a few other cheapies and not so cheap detectors. While i didnt use it, it found more $$$ and discriminated out the rubbish better than the people above give it credit for.

hope that helps.
its also on special at jaycar the moment for AU$128 delivered Australia wide.

An Australian based company too..

have a great day
