Your going to love it Emu , if i arrived at a site without mine i think i'd just go home ! Had a signal in a crack in some rocks a few days ago so poked the TRX in there and by the time i had finished i had 8 coins including 3 threepence . The ratcheting feature is the ducks guts .

I never used it in anger today. It was chucking it down with rain most of the day so I didn't go detecting.

On the bright side though I managed to contact a property owner for permission to detect a site on his land. It's a site that I've been researching for six months or more and the landowner was happy to give me unlimited open access. To the best of his knowledge the site has never seen a metal detector.

Hi Fshoo,

Well using the ratchet feature on the transmitter/receiver x marks the spot is designed once you have pinpointed the target you can push the button and it will hone in on the target as the signal /ground peneratration is only on the tip. If some dirt falls in to the hole and the pinpointer wont locate it just lift it up and give the button a press and you are on full power to  ratchet back precisely on to the target. If you are to close to the target it reduces the beeping.

Regards Beepn.

FSHOO , As Beepin stated quick pressing the on/off button allows you home in on a target to the point where it will only beep when the tip is directly on or above the target . I have not touched our local parks previously due to having disturb to much ground but with the TRX i can locate the target so well that i am mostly hitting the target first poke with a screwdriver and then flicking it out . I know that some of the real pro's on this forum have been doing this for years but the TRX makes it easy for even a newb like me ! Pulled $62 in goldies in 4 trips which is big money in country Tassie , no ton days here . Caravan park manager watched for a while and said "hell the rabbits do heaps more damage , go ya hardest " . My detecting mate has the Minelab PP and is so impressed he wants to sell it and get the TRX .

The Whites sounds promising.  As a side note the Garrett pro pointer will do the same.  Once you locate the target turn the on/off button quickly off and then on again.

I have used the TRX for a week now and I'm very impressed with it.

The ratcheting function is a delight to use and it will pinpoint to exactly where the target is. It is very, very accurate.

I've used it with both power options, the 2 x 1.5 batteries or the single 9v battery. The single 9v battery gives a markedly better performance.

Top marks to Whites for a great unit.

I have the trx and have had the garret pro pointer. The trx is far better imo  almost never have trouble locating a coin from the surface , do not usually even pinpoint with the machine , just get the general area and then use the trx

Got one a couple of days ago, took one day in the mail, my first pin-pointer, took it out for about 3 hours this morning and I'm really impressed by it, makes the recovery time on targets so much faster, and it seems quite durable, cheers http://www.goldsearchaustralia.com

As you are digging in dirt and not sand  the pin pointer is invaluable.I've  got the Minelab 25  its been playing up lately as I think batteries  are dyeing. Its a pain in the arse if not on the sand
