As long as its all fully working and is a legit ML unit $1000 is a good deal IMO.  The v2 is blue I think compared the old camo green which could mean its an easier resale later if you wanted to (current colour scheme). Even the pinpointer is worth $100+ second hand so the detector is a bargain  ;)

Yeah that'd be a v1...no probs, at least you know its original ML  ;D Its still a reasonable price at $1000, but point out its a v1 (if they said it was a v2), offer them $800 and see how you go....unless they are reading this with you then 'Its still a reasonable price  ;) '

I think a thousand would pull up a 2100. You would soon get sick of manual tuning all the time. Ok when we had no other choices. The updated 2200 had front feet,i dont know if any 2100's had them.
First model had a screw on the back that had to be removed to tune interference with a small screwdriver.
Buy a 2200 if you are going to use one of the early models.

For the beach I would give it a miss.  It may work (and some people do it) but expect to dig 4 ft for a can.

Bring a big shovel if your taking it to a beach.
Once tuned it would run ok if you didn't keep changing from wet to dry sand.Moisture would be a problem.
Not a very good machine for the beach.

Oh yeah...well in that case get it for the goldfields and keep it away from the beach  ;D

On a sidenote I was talking to a local council contractor (for beach grading) and he was saying he picked up 2 sets of V1 2100's at a garage sale.  The old fella that owned them went a bit senile and he ended up in care so the missus and rest of the family were downsizing.  He told me he had no idea what they were worth or even if they were working.  It turns out the family didn't know either and were asking ..... with extra coils and other bits, 2 complete units for $120.  Since the fella knew nothing about them and not knowing if they worked or not and never went detecting in his life offered them $80 for the lot.....which they accepted  :o .  He was blown away when I told him what they were worth.  What I should have done was kept my mouth shut and offered him $100 for one of them...sometimes I tell people too much  ::)
