AKA Sorex
« on: February 26, 2015, 23:35 »
While I love my Minelab BBS machines their Achilles heal seems to be target response time especially around iron. For the beach this doesn't appear to be a problem but I'm sure there is a better unit for trashy areas. I've been looking at this Russian Detector the AKA Sorex anyone know anything about it and if its hodograph thingy is actually useful for the type of hunting we do here in OZ? It seems to have much better tones than a Tesoro.

Pretty impressive isn't it. Makes me think that Makro Racer better be a special piece of kit otherwise for almost the same money you could get this machine. They also have the Signum which I believe is even better or at least there are more buttons and programs to play with.

Impressive looking detector. He has to learn how to show us the screen on the detector though. Liked the video despite that. No hype just detecting.

I see that the hodograph manages to pick out a bottle cap from a coin, both of which ring up as the same VDI reading, that certainly could be useful on a single frequency vlf like the Sorex (see hodograph halfway down the Gary's Detecting link).  I initially thought it was actually a multi frequency detector, but upon reading more, realised it was a bit like an x-terra with different frequency coils.
