Quicksilver vs Tracker IV
« on: March 04, 2015, 18:17 »
Hey folks,
I am thinking of getting a bounty hunter for beach and general purpose metal detecting.
I have read so many good reviews for the Tracker IV in this forum, however i can get a quick silver for the same price.
Which is the better metal detector, or are they both basically the same just one has an lcd and touch buttons?
Also, is there a cheaper DD coil that will work on the bounty hunters that is good for wet sand hunting?
Thanks

Thanks Tasrog. As i said tonnes of people like the Tracker IV.
I use a GMII at the moment and it is great, but i would like something with a few simple tone options to save me digging up pull tabs, also with auto ground balancing as i cant balance out some of the beach sand.
Rwork, thanks for the tip. I am used to forums where posting in the wrong section is almost a punishable offence!  :o

You have to remember that, only a few machines balance in black sand.
None at the price point you are looking at :(

Ok thanks. As i am knew to detecting I thought i should get some clarification on what is actually making my metal detector 'play up' on the beach.
The beaches i metal detect at have white sand, and the areas the detector plays up in is the wet sand. Is black sand mixed in with the white or under the white?
I haven't been to a beach with visible black sand yet.
Thanks

The wet sand is salty enough to cause your machine to false. Black sand will make some better machines false. Neither will make a beach machine false. But even secondhand they are more expensive. It all comes down to your budget and what kind of hunting you want to do.
