Makro Racer Outings in Oz!
« on: April 20, 2015, 10:32 »
Took the Racer with a  Nokta Fors Gold 15.5"x13" DD coil to a beach for some on location reality search/testing !

Result from this outing............ + some valuable 1st. hand experience.

Will the 15.5"x13"DD Nokta Fors coil GB on wet sand when attached to a Makro Racer...

Procedures in this video....... First switch on DI2 mode....... Auto GB in Beach mode..... change into DI3, DI2 and All Metal mode to see if GB would stay the same.......... manual GB to fine tune..... 00.40 and 00.20 seem to be just right on this spot.

Increased the sensitivity to 95...... after all it was a test to see if it could handle a wet salt water beach, in DI2, DI3 and Beach mode there is no threshold audio.......so to hear if it's still working  just touch the coil to the ground to get a sound.....................  if it gets to quiet.

I do not use tracking when beach detecting...... prefer to hear when the GB need changing.

Lead sinker is as usual close to our $ coins.

I used my 10x5 coil last weekend and scored a well warn 1845 Shilling.. That coil certainly makes the RACER a far more balanced detector, and highlights its ability to unmask even better than with the stock coil.
Cant wait to hit the old spots this weekend coming with it.

ID classification number with a moderate coil speed over the target while on the top of the ground on my Racer and Fors Gold... around  82 - 83.

Just my observation................... one of the dealers or well regarded Nokta/Makro tester might have different views   ??? .

excellent info ivan 8) ..im really leaning torward a racer and its these type of posts with the trash and treasure from the hunt I really appreciate...I already know from what ive seen on the net, talked to guys on other forums, about the tight target id,which  may fool me a lot on goldies in parks etc..I don't see it being too much of a problem on the beach tho...have you done any parks or snotlots with your racer, yet ?

Audio on our $ coins compared to bottle caps.

That would have been a splendid question for Nokta/Makro and learned associates.

Good vid on the tone difference. The tone roll is a dead giveaway, very much like my 705 which ids screwcaps near goldies.
How to you find the target separation?
Regards

Target separation on surface items at the same plane is good, it will however change with depth increase and if items are of different composition/size and/or offset at different levels.

I to much prefer to get test and info done under Oz conditions and with our coins/items, it's easier to relate to.................. not to mention the spoken language.
After all this is the "Australian Metal Detecting and Relic Hunting" forum.

Had another interesting and productive outing this morning, using the little Fors coil on the Racer in the shade of some trees in a park and the big coil on the beach to cover a larger area of ground with each sweep.  8)

Evidently the Racer coil bolts are not long enough to be safely used on the Fors coils.  :-[

On another note Re:   Use of Nokta Fors Gold coil on Makeo Racer, as pictured used at beach test above.
No modification was done to either Fors coil or Racer detector unit to make them work together.

Since nothing much else is happening on these Makro treads, might as well slip in a little post.

On the way to another place this little park was beaconing, just had to stop and run the coil quick time over a part of it .........Disc at 70 Sens. at 1....... good for $ coins.............. next time I'll stop longer for a better look.

Wait till you try the little R13, you'll be gob smacked at the performance that little coil has on the RACER.

Before getting to the gob smacking stage the coil and shaft need to fit together, in this case this was not so.

Apparently that's what you get from dealing with CWP supplies :-(

Went to our local dealer and got a few Minelab bits that together with a piece of PVC tube became a perfectly fitting shaft, also modified the coil bolt slightly to make it long enough to be useful.

Now it can come along on future outings.
