Whites Pi 3000
« on: June 01, 2015, 11:25 »
Hi all this is my first post since I found this forum 3 months ago. Seen this detector up for sale and can't find much info on it. Just looking for anyone that maybe owned this machine back in the day to give me a quick run down so I can see if it's worth taking the risk buying one considering the age of these machines. Cheers.

I can't help you with any experience or opinion on the model, but Whites Operating Instructions for it are here: http://www.whiteselectronics.com/media/downloadable/files/samples/t/m/tm_pi_3000_a_instruction_manual.pdf

my first underwater detector, deep old beast that made a clicking tone instead of a beep, think it ran on 9v & a battery change was best done at home, if ya could pick it up for $100-$200 I'd get it but any more & I'd be looking for a used garret sea hunter ll or a white's DF.

It was a good beach/water/dive detector back then, not to sensitive to small gold items.
Early ones before 1995 had open coil, they later became available with flat Pulse Diver 950 weighted loop.
Operator Manual available on Whites Web site.
Check large "O" ring condition before submersing in water.
Agree with lazyaussie on the cost.
