Fine Gold GPX 5000 setting ?
« on: September 14, 2015, 16:27 »
Just wondering how long do you keep running in the Fine Gold setting on the 5000 once you start to put bigger coils on ?
do you keep on the FG setting with the coil size bigger than 11''  or 12 X 7 '' Elliptical  , what would be the preferred setting with the 14 X 7 ''  NF  and larger coils ?

Thanks
Siz  ;)

My 5 didn't like Fine when i tried it on an 18" just to see what happened. I don't really see the point of running Fine with a larger coil. I missed a few pieces of gold by running on Fine with a 14" round. Mates with old 4000's came to the same spot and found gold that my rig couldn't hear. I have done tests by drilling a hole on an angle in hot ground. I put a 3.8 Gram bit down 8".  The only machines that could hear it was Tony W's 2200 and a couple of other earlier units. The 5000's would hear it easily when changed away from Fine Gold.  A club member found a 7 ounce nugget last year. He had  his Minelab set on Fine and said it was very quiet and down a ft. Their seems to be a window of sizes that the 5000 doesn't hear when on that setting. Larger and smaller ok.

When I find a pipe clay heap I give it a run on Normal after using Enhance. This will bring in deep targets but also hot ground noise and hot rocks.
