The MX5 appears to have largely failed in the marketplace, so Whites have repackaged it as the MXSport, but the specs now put it head to head with the Makro Racer and at the prices mentioned, Whites have lost that battle before it's even started! Still using 8 x AA batteries is a joke in 2016, when the competition only needs 4 or less for the same job.

Last week i bought one of the first MX Sport to be sold in the UK and will be out with it as soon as i can .
Cant say whether there will be much found , the beaches i go on are a little built up at the moment .
I can say that when i tried one out in the shop it had a similar capability to the Terra 705 , the menu is not too hard to navigate , it is a tad heavier than the Terra and feels it but no more than the ET .                                                                                                      When i get out i will test in the salt water depending on tide times , hopefully it will perform better than the AT Pro .                      The only things i dont like much are the hand grip , it is plastic over what seems like metal tubing but should last , creaks a bit sometimes , and the small plastic stand under the battery box , other than that its not bad .
Let you all know what i think soon.

Hi Nuke em,
Well it should be a good water detector as you will have a fair bit of info on your targets, Single Frequency {13.8khz}
I have included a recent video just used on grassed areas and its quite accurate on vdi. I use the same principle on my v3i   of lifting up the coil if you have a target that falls on say a bottle cap and the coin if they have the same vdi. You will notice as you lift the coil the vdi will lower as you go up but the coin will stay in the same range. The tones I am not rapped in on the video but they could be ok with a bit of use to suit your own hearing.
It has 20 tones as the v3i has 255 so I give a bottle top a 5, gold rings 120, modern coins 200, and pre-decimal 255 which you know without looking at the screen what range the target is in.
I always use modulation audio in my program in the video it wasant any help with the mxsport.Time will tell after using it for a while.
Whites a brilliant company they did a complete refurbish on my v3 converting it to the latest model v3i latest box, new screen.
At no charge.

Try getting Minelab to do that you would not have a hope in hell.
One other thing when you are testing out you mxsport try going over a coin from left to right only. and the same with a bottle cap and watch you screen on the vdis {if locks on better}  Best of luck with it im sure it will be White.

Well I am looking forward to what you think of the mxsport. I notice on another forum Andy Sabisch made a comment that the rusty bottle caps are by passed with either the 950 eclipse concentric & the 6x10 dd ,  How far along the track did you use the v3. Did you like it or found it  a bit demanding in the programing.

It is a detector that once you set up your programs when reach your searching area you only then have to change a few settings,to cope with the site. One thing I would try with the mxsport is play around with prospecting mode for great depth and also all metal.

Regards Beepn.

Well i am back from the beach , the beaches i search are mainly stoney and light pea shingle with sand at very long tides . It was raining today and still is , i went up against a mate using his ET . When we started i was the first one to find a coin but not long after he sailed ahead and i found that the MX is not the best for the beaches i search . It doesn't mean that it isn't any good on beaches , its just not brilliant like the ET / Explorer or even the easy to understand Terra on that type of beach . My local beaches are full of pull tabs / ring pulls / bottle tops of all types and bits of Aluminium and other metals and Iron too .
I feel that the MX would be better if the trash isn't too high as the tones aren't easy to understand compared to the ET and it means you have to keep checking the number display . On a sandy beach if trash is low then you will have a field day , recovery speed isn't too bad at all and the machine is easy to set up .
I didn't search the sand as it was raining and the tide was still up i just didn't have the energy and have a bit of a chill too so i will have another go at a later date .
On my beach would i replace my ET or Terra with the MX ? No , but on a sandy beach ? No , i would have them all.

Good to see someone actually use an MX Sport and can speak from experience thereof.
