Whites Surf PI Pro outings.
« on: October 15, 2016, 17:50 »
Obtained an older Surf P.I. Pro that was in need of repair and new battery holder.
After maintenance it was time for a trip to the beach to see how it would perform.

In true PI fashion it sounded off on every fish hook, hair pin and sparkler wire around.
As for performance, no complaints in or out of water ~ touch the sand or bump an opstackles with the coil, no problem.

It's a two button detector, threshold and gain control how much easier can it be.

On this beach outing gain was on preset, any higher and interference became noticeable.

Took it out Friday with intend to follow the resiting tide an hour before low tide where there usually is less wires and therefore less unnecessary digging.

The low tide however revealed a good amount of sand shift and high/low areas that was not visible while the sea was up, so there was a change of detector to be used.

First one phone another few meters further on then a second ???

Got me beat why anyone would take a phone swimming. Any chance they could be rinsed and dried out to see if they would work, or does the salt water destroy them?

Looks like it does a good job. It'll rake in the gold and silver once all the people hit the beach in summer.

I think the phones go in the water from the people who "only get their feet wet" then try and take an ill-fated selfie.

On fire with them phones Ivanll  ;D

Them phones like toy cars give loud signals that is hard to pass by without digging.

I've given up on guesstimating targets when using PI detectors on beaches, a long sturdy handle on a good size SS scoop that cuts easily through wet sand to the depth where item is located and retrieved for visual identification, works for me ~ then on to the next target.

Took the Surf PI Pro to a beach that do not give up much any more, figured since so many PI users says they go deep it would be worth to test their theory.
Did better than expected, even got a 2¢ coin in the scoop which is not a common occurrence on these beaches.
I dare say this beach is frequented by both genders, judging by the hairpins and fish hooks.

Proceeds from this outing can be seen in the ice cream container ..... so I say this Whites PI detector works quite well.!

A few local beaches get the PI treatment from me as well other wise it would be a very quiet hunt, might go & hit one this arvo or go chasing some barra in the dam  :-\ :-\ decisions decisions  :)

Someone shower a great interest in my Surf PI Pro and wanted to buy it, so to help out a fellow beach hunter I sold it to him.

$450 for the complete water proof unit ready for diving, that's a bargain if anyone wants to know what a bargain is.

It was a good unit dead easy to use, no knob fiddling. !
