Its a buckle........but

Nice buckle found some time ago and just dug it out of the shed.
Does it have a military or police origin.?

Really nice buckle 8) .  Having no crown makes a military or police link unlikely. Some similarities to early Qld Police badges but again no crown. The maltese cross was widely used.

As above very unlikely military or police. Looks like a typical civilian style of the era. Good find and buckle.  That Maltese cross design was used on a number of items in the 1800's.
