I did get a Pro find 35 for that price but mine was from Au nation Geographic store as they had a stock sale because the shop front was being closed and moved in the plaza.  Lucky cause it was the only one left. Went to Anaconda in ACT and there metal detecting area was a bit disheartening. Hardly anything there and looked thrown on the shelf. Not mush one can say. Got my Nox 800 and did my yard. Dag nail trap and 9 little copper 1 cent pieces. Got the wife a 705 and she hit 70 cents in her first play.

Bet on the coast the first good ring will not be me who finds it. At my age it is a good health package. Gets me out doors,  now if I can get Canberra to give me the answers as to where I can detect in ACT without being fined.

Question is there a thread about the legals of Metal detecting in Australia ? Also what is the laws in Melbourne Altona beach detecting. Find it hard as only been in Oz 16 years and metal detecting 2 months. I have dredged in California since 1980 up until I Moved here. And getting public servants to give a straight answer is like pulling a jack rabbit out of a crocodiles rear exit.

bayside beaches are fair game for detecting mate, just be respectful of other beach goers & you'll be golden :)
