Update on the 14 x 9 Coiltek CTX 3030 coil
« on: April 11, 2018, 22:51 »
OK the coil has been out for some time now i must say i am not really a big fan of the coil the deep is lacking and a lot of chatter on the beach is that just me ?

I have heard of a lot of people sending them back for repairs but not sure what really happened there as i have not seen much posted online about them just the normal flooding of its out and people giving there first impression reviews that seem to have flooded the internet.

Depth not that good ?
Lots of noise on the beach ?
Can't find the chains they say it can ?

Is that just me what is everyone's

Another Coiltek fail ?

Must admit all I have heard is that if anybody could use just one coil on the CTX it’s this one. It’s more sensitive than the stock Minelab coils so should do a better job on chains. Not sure what you mean by another Coiltek failure either?

I think there was to much hype when it first come out and it had a lot of backing from people testing it but if you look at most of the people who tested it they have all gone back to the 17" coils.

As for the chains how many people have you seen online that have found them using the 14" x 9" coil i would say not to many.

As for the failure there are some really good coils and there are some bad ones. For me i do not think that the 14" x 9" coil really stacks up to what everyone has posted online about it.

I was at the beach yesterday 10 cents at under 10cm and the Equinox with the standard coil made it about 5 cm deeper then today 5cm no further than 2in down and not a beep but the CTX 3030 with the 17" coil picked it up no problem.

I don't have an issue with mine...I like the fact that it sinks.. I like it in the water, you are not fighting it in the current.  I like that its more sensitive so I run the sensitivity a tad higher while maintaining a steady threshold.  It does have depth, that I like maybe a tad deeper then my excal II ...I have found a nice 9k ladies bracelet with mine so really I cant complain.  No chains thou I must admit, only ever found one 14k chain but that was with my excel II and I think that I bumped it.  No I wouldn't say it was a flop
