News mentions 3 brothers, but lists only two.  William Kerrin was the other brother.

This is the family tree I think...

Good to,see they kept the records for the badge. It would be worth making a post for the Reference/ Resource section with a link to where the details are held if we can check the site.

Well done maat. A good story by the ABC with no mention of amateur treasure hunter which the English papers seem to use a lot.
You should put a claim into the Badge section for Lost, Found and Returned. I think this is our most important badge.

Great work Matt.  The article really paints the hobby in a good light.  You must be over the moon.  I really like the last paragraph:

"Mr Richardson said he would now wear his grandfather's badge each Anzac Day and pass it down to future generations"

On behalf of all us 'hobby detectorists' I say thank you.

Hey Maat, thats great news.  I was on holiday when i saw the article.  Tried to track down the family but was too hard on my ipad mini.  Was the family still in Coleraine area.  Was certainly an interesting family to track.

Well done.
Cheers

thanks guys.

Ray, the more important thing to me is it's back with the family. no need for awards, wasn' too keen on the TV interview to be honest but Mr Richardson wanted to do it.. so it is what it is.

Matt,
I honestly consider what you've done with this as very admirable and truly outstanding act.
It's one thing to find and return lost jewelry, for whatever reason it's done for but to find this item and go out of your way to return it to a relative, at least, way down the track only tells me that there are people out there , like your self, that are mature and conscious enough to give a sh!t.

Congratulations on this outcome.
