Garrett Sea Hunter PI.
« on: August 30, 2013, 22:24 »
Took me old 1985 Sea Hunter XL500 PI with the 13" coil for a beach outing.  :)

It has a unique bell like tone........wanted to see if it could be heard on video...........not studio hi fi quality, but not bad at least it has audible sound synchronized with the video.

Looking North see the long shadow of the scoop handle, that will tell what time it was.......... and the Blue sky is indicating a lovely day  :)
Life is good........or should I say, life is what we make of it.  :D

Nice looking unit.....I'd be happy swinging one of those. I wonder how the performance compares to my SeaHunter.....probably nothing between them.

Tony.

They did make a few changes, this old one also have a 3.5" coil that work like a pin pointer on a long shaft.............good for places with obstacles and swimming holes where there is no space to swing a coil.

You are welcome to come and compare with your MK II.

I think there is a few over here, but I have never met anybody using one...........not even Mr R. ::)

If you didn't like the Infinium LS, you will likely not like the Sea Hunter MK II.

I'm sorry I sold the infinium ls .at the time money was needed else where.being a pensioner and not a lot of ready cash,i had little choice.problem was solved.so I bought a cheaper seahunter 11,now my daughter wants to marry in nz and tradition says I must walk her down the aisle.so this time several detectors will have to be sold.i haven't fully decided which ones yet.probaly the sea hunter,at gold,at pro and maybe the silver u max.but not my vaquero,no way! emubob

A Sea Hunter MK 2 with 2 coils was for sale or swap for a gold detector on gumtree.

I happen to have the gold detector mentioned and 1 - 2 no mucking about a deal and swap was made.

A little modification and a setup that suits my way of hunting and we are ready for next low tide.

The discrimination do work but is limited to a conductivity level below a 5¢ coin and up to including a 20¢ coin.

Interesting part is it seem to be biased towards low conductors more so than high conductors when a moderate level of Disc. is applied .......................... and there is a difference between the two disc. modes, meaning it is essential to familiarize oneself with the settings in order to make it a pleasure and to maximise its use.

Next outing at the beach there will be a new Garrett Pro-Pointer AT on the belt.............. no matter which detector will be used.

Spent some time last weekend at the Cairns Home Show & Caravan, Camping & Boating Expo.

Many interesting things on display, came home with a few show specials and a couple of freebies...........like detecting, you've got to attend and participate to be in it!

The ring is an unusual find, i wonder if its loss is mentioned anywhere.

Seems to be an expensive ring, probably a lot around. I see one mentioned as lost in SA 2013.

Royal Australian Regiment Association ... like the 10 days before it — desperately trying to find a lost ring that is, to her, much more than a piece of jewellery.

Orange shaft is part of a hollow fibreglass rake handle obtained many years ago from Kmart.
Bottom shaft I made to fit from bits, handle made from aluminum tubing cut and welded at an angle to my liking.
Arm rest from early Infinium LS.

Straight CF shaft, Looking 8)  !

I do have a few carbon fibre upper/lower shafts for use on land with larger coils the fibreglass one was made years ago for the 8" coil used on an Infinium LS when water hunting where weight is less of an issue and it was cheap.
It's also 20mm ID which is just perfect for Garrets water detectors lower shafts.
