Where to Buy a Garret Ace 350
« on: October 14, 2013, 01:14 »
G'day All,

I was going to order a Garret Ace 350 through Texas Premium in the US. Went on their site today and found they don't deliver to Australia anymore.

I was hoping someone on this site could point me in the right direction. ie A trusted business that delivers from the US?

Cheers

Hi, how do you find shops that will use (ship it to)

Aussie post for one has a service that does this, the company doesn't know you live in Aus because you get a US address.     But the cost may blow any savings buying from the US.

Hi  Benthic75,
You will not be able to purchase a new Garrett Ace 350 in Australia.
They are now only selling the EuroAce in Australia which is not the same as the Ace 350.
The Garrett EuroAce has quite a large expanded iron range on it, that pushes our coins into a much smaller number of segments.
These segment are in the upper range and if I remember correctly, the 5 cents comes in at around the eight digit segment.
If you knock out a pulltab, you can sometimes miss some off the one and two dollar coins due to this smaller coin spread.
If you look at some of the hobby shops in the U.S. that are on Ebay, you may find that they will ship to Australia.
Hope this helps out.

I've also decided this is going to be my starting detector.  Seems like E-bay is the only way.  Some are coming up on there for me though only to find out when you read it that they don't ship overseas.

Having been a EuroAce owner, I concur!  Don't do it!

Don't get me wrong, it's a very fine detector for the money, however it's set up for Eropean-style relic hunting in fields and pasture where the crap ratio is low and most signals get dug.  Using it here you'll find you can't differentiate between goldies and a pulltab which makes for prolific swearing (which I do well) and a helluva lot of wasted digging.

If you cant find a 350 it might be worth looking into a 250 plus a DD coil.

Hi All,
I eventually used "ship it to" USA  and the company Texas Premium Detectors which worked a treat and saved me some dinero's. I paid less for the ACE350 buying it in the US then buying the ACE150 in Australia. However the Aussie dollar has sunk since then so may not be worth it. On the detector side I got the Ace350. First day at the beach scored $4.50. So was more hooked from that point, Only draw-back is it doesn't like really wet salty sand and gives false readings if the sand is to wet which can be annoying. Am told there are ways around this but they don't seem to work for me.
