Sweeper,

You saw a part of the video where a target made a call. :)
The video started as a test to record the ground balance changes from up the dry and down to the water edge, hence the ground noise when
moving the coil at the start of the cropped video.
There is a number of ways to reduce/eliminate this ground noise, I was trying to find the one that would retain the best sensitivity/depth.

Also the video show (by audio) how sensitive this DD coil is in the centre compared to other DD coils and how easy it is to pinpoint a target
in motion mode............at 25sec into the video the pinpoint mode is engaged, now watch the Red LEDS at the top move from left to right when
target is centred under the coil........how much easier can it be, both visual and audio.

When target signal is weak as in a small or deeply detected object the LED Light only go part way to the right when pinpointing.........so the
target in this video was small and light but with strong signal, indicating it was not to deep.

I should collect all the tips/tricks on a 2 hour video (Unwrapping the ATX and it's Secrets) and put it up for sale........... ??? only to later
discover that some GoldenBoy had illegally obtained and showing pirated copies  >:( ...........nah......I'll save my taste-buds from the pleasurable
taste of sucking on Lomotil.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

lazyaussie,

My SeaHunter PI is an early 1984 unit......Yes the ATX is definitely better on 5c coins even with the coin on edge........Infinium LS is good
on 5c coins but ATX is better!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moderator: ANT1967,

I have detected that beach area many, many times and so have myriad of other people.
As for deep-ish targets.......see picture above, items with red line was all deep-ish.....the wire at bottom left is not unusual for depth with a
PI detectors.
Both 5c coin and memory card had good depth, mem-card have ID number slightly lower than a 5c coin, it also have Gold covered connection
points, so in reality the ATX found Gold on the first beach outing.
I am leaving the gold where it is cause the 256MB mem-card have more value in working order......256MB is twice the size of my first computer
hard drive.
The very small rusty piece (like a flat nail head) was deep for it's size, had to use my pin-pointer once it was up from the deep.

On this outing the ATX was not disappointing, in fact it showed part of it's All Terrain versatility........... and that, be the reason I got it.

Ivan

Just wondering how the iron discriminate feature performs in the water, I know in the Sea Hunter it was limited. This detector has really got me interested. My minelab machines (excalibur 1000  and GP3500 } plus other machines, are getting a few years old now  I am sure I could easily sell them and buy an ATX with the proceeds. I could buy a 5000 if I wanted  but to me the 5000 is too limited, too bulky, too complicated and very overpriced!!

I am retired and  I intend to do a lot of travelling around in my caravan and the way this machine packs down to a small package  is a big plus. I know in some ways the 5000 will out perform it in gold detecting, but at near enough half the price its not that far behind. I am keen to know all I can about this machine so any additional info would be appreciated thanks Neddy  ;D

Interesting question........ sorry, I do not have the answer..... haven't tried that part yet......but I will do so at a later date.

Meantime Garrett Australia and some of their dealers that are members of this forum and sponsors of others.......... have the opportunity to participate and share, should they happen to possess the answer to this intriguing question.

Otherwise I shall forward the answer by PM.

Ivanll, curious what long handle scoop you are using.

I had a look at a t-rex and the stealth, still can't decide which one.

A pleasant thing about being an owner/operator of detectors, is that one can modify and test in any manner one sees fit without getting into a quarrel...........however that will often change if the test results are posted, even if only to inform.

Having used an Infinium LS for years and now an owner of an ATX, many similarities was found on both units.
One of the obvious question that came to mind was, will the Infinium coils work on the ATX.  ???

So lately I have been trying out various coils.  8)

Well the Infinium DD coils will work on the ATX and to me the result is very pleasing. :)
The ATX DD coil will work on the Infinium, but it is Not an improvement.

Forget using the Infinium mono coils on the ATX.

Just a few lines of my experience with the Infinium LS and the ATX interchanging of coils.
