Is anyone able to get NEL coils for uMax models?
« on: December 19, 2013, 18:36 »
Honestly, good Tesoro coils must be one of the hardest things to acquire, it probably easier to buy cocaine. I'm annoyed at how NEL only sell HOT model coils (atm), there are some on ebay for uMax models but not the ones I'm after. There is one store from the US that sells the whole range but they don't sell to Aust.  ::)

Would love to have the 15" round, perhaps the 15 x 17 as well.

Thanks, having a look, their website seems to be down.

On an interesting note, Tesoro are now selling their Silver uMax with a better stock coil, good signs. Hopefully NEL can give them some more to think about.

I tried to do just that, but there was some problem with sending the message. I'll try again, thanks.  :)

Edit: it worked now.

When I bought my NEL Sharpshooter on Ebay on the NEL's ebay page, I just messaged them to put one up for sale as there weren't any listed.  Might be another avenue for a purchase.

I did that before I even started this thread, lo and behold, they get back to me two days ago, placed the order.

Hi!
Looking Man states that coils for Tesoro are hard to acquire, sorry for my ignorance, but why is this so? Could the Australian Tesoro supplier get them in?
Also are the NEL coils good?

Again, sorry for my ignorance, always keen to learn a little more about my Tesoro.

Cheers

I'd go with NEL coils, they are excellent value for money, the build quality is great, everything is included in each coil package, including coil cover and shaft bolt, most major detector manufacturers make you buy these items separately, often at exorbitant pricing.  The Tesoro coils will be expensive if ordered through Australian dealerships, and will probably have to come from the US anyway, which sort of defeats the purpose of having dealerships here vs buying direct from the US.  I wanted to buy a Tesoro elliptical coil for the Vaquero, but it was all too hard to buy here, with lengthy waits for them to put an order in to the US, ended up buyer a NEL Sharpshooter which I was very happy with.  The NEL coils had a few ergonomic design issues early on (where the coil cable enters the coil), buy NEL listened to their users, and to their credit, quickly released improved versions to the market.

Thanks gold pick for the info.
This is what I like about this site, good info from like minded people.
I will certainly be looking into these NEL coils.
Thanks again.

Some of the popular Tesoro coils went out of production or they just have trouble bringing them back. To their credit, they bought back the 8" concentric, but people still seem to have trouble getting the cleansweep. They don't make large coils, their largest sizes are elliptical and they are rubbish. SEF are heavily associated with kellyco and I don't want anything to do with them.

As for an Aussie supplier getting in NEL coils, it would be good, but how much would they charge? It would have to be shipped in all the same.
