Best small coil for AT Pro?
« on: January 26, 2014, 18:00 »
I'm in the early stages of looking into moving to an AT Pro sometime later in the year and would like to get a second coil for trashy areas, snot lots, fencelines etc.  I had a 4.5" for the Euro Ace which worked very nicely.

It seems there's two potential coils for the job, the 4.5 "sniper" type, and the 5X8" DD.

The more I swat up on these, the less obvious the choice seems to be. Both have their fans it seems.  :-\

Has anyone had experience with these and maybe be able to provide some guidance for a confused soul?  :)

Depends on the detecting your doing but personally haven't found any need for the sniper coil yet. Not to say I would never need it but i think the 5x8 would get more use.

Thanks for the input guys!

I was leaning towards the 8x5 because it seemed to be a bit more versatile and I do like a DD.

Now, for the saving bit!  ;)

I have only had my AT PRO International for a week and my yard has a lot of trash ,I mean a lot . I was blessed with the deal of the century on the AT and it came with a lot of extras .  Included was a tiny little coil ,The Super Sniper that measures just over 100 mm . I have not tried it out yet but to date have 36 coins from my yard .  I will try the Super Sniper out tomorrow and see if it really can see through the trash .  Stay tuned .                Gaz

Tried the sniper today without any finds.  Put the 5 x 8 on and had two coins rather quick.  I have a large 11 x 9  DD but it seems to make the pro heavy going and its constantly hitting targets .  I will have to lean toward the  8 x  5.     The all rounder i think.   Gaz
