Fors Gold Hill End outing.
« on: March 08, 2015, 22:01 »
Had a pretty good day today with the FG doing a bit of relic hunting......among a few other items of interest, these two were by far the better finds of the day.
The one on the left is a ....Medal - Children's Peace, Great War, Department of Defence, Australia, 1919
The one on the right is a....Token - 1 Penny, Iredale & Co, Iron Merchants & Ironmongers, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, circa 1857
More info in the links below.
http://museumvictoria.com.au/collections/items/53176/medal-children-s-peace-great-war-department-of-defence-australia-1919

http://museumvictoria.com.au/collections/items/54307/token-1-penny-iredale-co-iron-merchants-ironmongers-sydney-new-south-wales-australia-circa-1857

Both items were laying in and around rusted items, easily targeted with the FG running FP in BST. Small coil movements make it simple to lock onto the high tone as well as keep the numbering system locked on. The speed in which its able to do this is stunning. Gave the v3i a run today, but it felt a little .... old hat compared to the speed in which the FG pulls high tones from rubbish pits.

Click on the pics for a bigger better look see.
Two cricket buckles from the same area....who's your dady!!!! ;D

Love this one...possibly from the 1860s.?

Which use to look like this..click here--->LINK

A broach me thinks.?

The guts of an old fob watch....could be gold plating on it.?

Heaps of other finds like thimbles, old buckles, buttons and an array of other things not really worth the effort of a pic.

From todays efforts.....showing only the worthy.
An old button with material still attached...barely.
1885 British penny.
And the buckle thingy.?

This area will now be left for the purpose of testing new machines/coils/skill to see what we left. 4 folks went over it today with little to show. The coin being the best find followed by my partner finding an old Jaw Harp.(broken)
