As the standard is about $180 here in Australia,  I and many others, will wait to see the price AND how it goes in SaltWater / and wet sand.

Don't know how I feel about this one. The video shows fresh water so I don't know how good it will be in the waves. You probably have to thank Makro for this new addition to Garrett's product line, ever since they released their waterproof pointer this would have been on the cards. I think I'll be happy with my Makro pinpointer and the only thing that might sway me in the future is the Deteknix underwater model. In my opinion pulse induction will be the game changer. There are times when my scoop just keeps sinking the target - hopefully a fully waterproof P.I pointer will be able to help with that. It will be interesting to see if this Garrett number has the depth of the Whites TRX, as I believe it needs to be aiming at both the Makro and the TRX - oh and they need to fix the falsing issue, everyone is over that with their old pro-pointers.

Its good to see the vendors recognising what people need, however 10 foot is a joke.
If your going to build something waterproof, make it bullet proof.

I don't really see any point in making the Propointer any more capable than 10 feet, afterall, it is a vlf unit and not really ideal for use in the salt or for diving compared to a PI unit. Are you really going to need to go deeper than 3m in fresh water, I doubt it.  Probably the main advantage of the new IP rating for the Propointer, is to ensure that water ingress into the speaker holes is no longer an issue when cleaning it (even though according to its previous IP rating this should never have been an issue).
If you want a true diving PI pinpointer, the Vibra-probe covers those bases (rated to 100feet/30m), and I'm sure the Deteknix new unit will provide another option to choose from.
