« on: February 23, 2015, 14:31 »
Ive followed a lemon juice method for cleaning my silvers.. i cant find it now but im sure it metioned placing a little bit of iron in the juice to expediate the reaction.. anyway my silvers are sparkling clean but some have a pink stain which I cannot remove... what have I done?

Probably the post 1945 are going pink because of the copper content  and only.50% silver, prior to 1945 the silver was .925

Post 1945
50% silver
40% copper
5% Nickel
5%Zinc

I use vinegar and fine table salt for all my silvers . Make it a wet paste and rub between fingers every now and then . Might take hours , days weeks to clean .
Disclaimer , the 2 good silvers I found I soaked in plain water . No chemicals or mechanical cleaning for the good ones .
