Another Pro Pointer Gone to God
« on: February 28, 2015, 21:11 »
My pro pointer has been playing up a bit lately, falsing now and again. Today it got to the stage of falsing almost from the time I turn it on and put it near the ground.
It hasnt had much use, but is out of warranty. Has anyone had any luck getting them repaired here in Aus, or do I just cut my losses and buy another? Also any advice on good/better/best pointers on the market?
Cheers,
Mike

Garrett or ML ?

ML is a fully glued unit..  Can not even replace a switch..

Garrett is a 50/50   have had some good outcomes and not so much of recent times...  It all depends on the TRUE cause... And if it is what I think...  Then major sugary is the only option and not 100% and will not look the same.

Or see the dealer section for the Deteknix X-pointer

Whites bullseye trx. Just got one last week and it is great. Lot more sensitive than the garrett and ml. Also all the field is around the tip, not the shaft like the others I have had so much better for picking out a target in a small hole or confined area.

50 / 50 chance of a a fix...  But even then it may not last for ever...

Or you can grab an X-pointer...

I have tried a xpointer, not as sensitive as my whites trx. Tried a garrett, xpointer,ml and whites together and the trx was the only one to pick up a very small nugget we used for a test. Quite happy so far. The switches on the garretts need improving as i know of a few that have them break. Good thing about the trx is that the shell is easily replaceable.
 Cheers

If I can't handle it, I'll go & have a few beers, or a red wine....or both.... & go from there!

TRX is in my metal detecting bag, garrett pointer is in my tool bag for when the plasterers sheet over my electrical brackets on a worksite. Once you get used to the TRX it's  hard to go back. Haven't tried the minelab one.
