A spring and the new type coils.
« on: April 27, 2016, 14:59 »
This positive terminal, probably off a torch battery was brought into the Bpc camp for further testing. Our 45's and 5000"s fitted with the new type coils would not detect this spring even when wiped on it. The spring appears to be the usual brass coated metal. It may have been some type of stainless steel when made. A 7000 will show it as will a 2300. I got my Ace 250 out and it will detect it at about 6" maximum. Strange.

I've also seen 4500s and 5000s miss wire mesh (like a camp toaster mesh).

It just seems so strange that the new coils are very sensitive and will find the smallest sliver of iron. I have seen my Sov show nothing on a gold chain but was told it was something to do with the links not being in solid contact.

Don't think that would work, as the links are not exactly 'attached'  The detector would see the links as individual.  Same as if you check a ring with a split in it.  push the two ends together, you get a good signal, apart, you get a much weaker signal, or non at all.

Seems the picture on the first post is missing. Let me know if others can see it. I just see a large square.

The mystery of the missing picture.
I could understand if it said, Picture deleted by Admin or was a photobucket deleted by user. The picture was a bit of plastic from the corner of a large 6v torch battery with a spring about 12mm ( 1/2") high.
