GT weather and conditions
« on: September 17, 2016, 13:03 »
Hi currently cooling our heels in NSW, where it is also very wet and boggy ground, waiting on conditions in VIC to improve. Is there anyone near the GT or know what conditions are like on the ground and if bad any idea when it is likely to get better ?

Detrack just commented on the shoutbox. Wouldn't hurt to contact him. My daughter drove to Bendigo from Swan Hill and had to do many detours. It doesn't take long for the water to subside but they may not open the roads for a while.

Had the flood here in Avoca , Tuesday and Wednesday , the Avoca River has dropped down a bit now , ground nice and damp , target signals very clear and deep , lot of standing water in the old prospectors holes , but most tracks are negotiable in 4wd , I wouldn't try with a conventional vehicle till the puddles dry out so you can see how deep the ruts are .

Mozzy's will be bad as soon as the sun comes out. I walked the dogs yesterday without any spray and had to come back early. It is still raining, started again last night.

A few of us camp at Kingower where the Hand of Faith was found. The block owner has had to leave due to having 4 inches of rain in a short time. My wife couldn't drive directly to work at Wycheproof today because of flood water coming down from Avoca and Charlton. The main road was cut and she had to drive to Culgoa to find a higher path. Just back from walking the dogs, mozzies trying to carry me away.

Do you watch the BPC Facebook site? I have been putting up the different links about Laanecoorie gold bash on soon. Still lots of rain and cool weather.

We cannot go directly to Bendigo from Swan Hill. I think we would have to go to pyramid hill or Echuca. Last night there was even more rain in the triangle.
