GARRETT A3B GOLD HUNTER
« on: December 30, 2016, 15:45 »
Hi Does anyone have a Garrett A3B Gold Hunter United States or Australia Model
I have never seen one But a friend showed me one (Australian model) and apparently
it has a fixed coil system wired all the way to the Circuit by a 4 pin plastic connector
At the moment all I have to go on Until he finds the coil? Is the control box
So my question is does anyone know for sure did all A3B units made use 15KHz or some use 5KHz
And if again someone has one probably the United states one (Or even better the Australian Model)
I know from photos the US Model  have a normal metal Connector Plug system outside but inside they are probably
wired up the same from connector that takes the coil plug to a plastic 4 pin connector to circuit board
If that is the case I Need the color wiring set up on the plastic connector?
Garrett uses 4 wires 1/White 2/Bare earth 3/Red and 4/black so all I need is someone to just like
when you put the 3 nine volt batteries you open the control box and check the Coil wiring
and the sequence of colors Or take a photo showing the wiring and colors to the circuit board
because you have to slide the unit out of the case to replace batteries there must be a plastic
connector plug to unplug and make repairs etc
I will try to add photos if anyone is confused but if someone has this model they will know what
I'm talking about thanks for any help and Happy Holiday Season

After 27 years in the industry, I have never seen a Garrett A3B with the coil hard wired to a white socket to plug onto the circuit board. All A3B detectors had a 5 pin socket at the back of the control box and the coil lead had a 5 pin plug fitted. These units were all 15 Khz operation. The coils for the Garrett Scorpion Detector will fit the Garrett A3B. Hope this helps out.  Phil

The bloke who asked the original question has never been back to this site since the 3rd of January, just after he put the post up. I will send him a pm to say there have been answers.
