Any PC guys here ?
« on: February 03, 2017, 08:14 »
Hi All
I have a 20 year old Microtek X12usl flat bed scanner that worked fine with W8 and the 1st version of W10
However when MS decided to make things harder for everyone to use older gear connected to their PC it made this $450 scanner useless
I'n not about to throw something out that is still in perfect working order , Buy a new one you say ---HMMM nope as the same unit now is around $950
I have found a driver for the unit that is supposed to be compatible with W10 , however I can not for the likes of me get it to work
When I go into updating the driver manually, but W10 cannot find it , go into auto mode and I'm being told ""the third party inf does not contain digital signature information""
So I go into the sub menu and turn off the sig info check in W10 but still it will not load
Then I have done the manual install by placing the DDL file directly into C/Windows/SysWOW64/Drivers/UMDF , did the same for SysWOW32 and into the Microtek install folder as well  just in case , still the Microtek software is unable to find the scanner
HELP as I really would like my scanner back
Cheers Marty

My Merete is an Expert ~ and I read this to her~

She says roll back your PC  to Windows  7 ~ then you will be able to  install the driver/s  and then  reinstall/ upgrade  Windows  ten ~ again ~

Your software is already registered  and you can  'easily' roll to and fro ~  She has  rolled both her PCs to  to Windows 7  and feels much more comfortable with  Windows 7 ~

She suggests  Windows  ten is designed to  run as an App~  and many programs  will not be acceptable ~ You will get   7 Support  for  3-4 years yet ~

Lets assume that you  are not running a HP or a designated  brand name ~ If you are~  you are bound to the manufacturer ~
